Burger King Onion Ring Snack Chips

fast_food_news_burger_king_snacks.jpgBurger King and The Inventure Group have just released a new potato snack, “Onion Rings”, based on the flavor and popularity of the deep fried side order from BK. This makes the third Burger King branded snack to appear on store shelves. The other two BK flavors, “Ketchup & Fries” and “Flame Broiled”, were released last year. A quick web search shows mixed reviews on both of them, but sales have been strong enough to convince the parties involved that another variety would be welcome. They plan to offer a package for just about every snacking need. Vending machines will carry .75-ounce and 1.125-ounce bags, with 2 or 3-ounce bags available in convenience and grocery stores, while discount and bulk food clubs get 9 and 12-ounce containers.

As a fan of Funyuns, a similar snack I’ve enjoyed since I was a kid, I’m interested to see how these compare. Thanks to FFC’s newest team member Ryan for the information. I will try and get some of these new onion snacks this weekend. Does anybody else here enjoy Funyons, or have any interest in trying this new snack?

  1. I’m all about Funyuns. I think my older sister got me into them, but she was the sort who ate Funyuns and drank pickle juice and got anchovies on her pizza when she was in 4th grade.

  2. Funyons are great. If ask me, there aren’t enough onion-flavored salty snack choices. Everything is chips and pretzels. Oniony snacks are the wave of the future. But why stop there? We need garlic bites and shallot chips. Get some more vegetables in on the snack action. Perhaps some fried squash, or salty cabbage wedges. I can’t even imagine what kind of snack excitement awaits us within the jicama.

  3. ooo i LOVE funyuns! …and these sound yummy too!

  4. I used to be crazy for funyuns, desired them above all other snacks, but it did not translate into adulthood, maybe cause now I stop to ask myself “what the heck am I eating here?”

  5. BAD. BAD. STAY AWAY.

  6. I’ve had Funyuns a few times, Can’t really find them anymore though.

I want to try these burger king onion ring snacks but being where I live, we’ll never get them out here. :(

  7. The vending machine guy here at work stocked us up with the BK Ketchup and Fries chips. They are not good. Not good at all.

I’d be willing to try the Onion Rings, because of my favorable opinions regarding Funyuns and (Lays I believe) Onion Rings, which I actually prefer to Funyuns.

  8. They have these in one of the vending machines at my college. I looked at them and I thought about getting them but I had to run to class. I have enjoyed funyuns in the past but I have to be the mood for them. I think next week I’ll try these.
