Jack in the Box has contacted FFC to announce the introduction of an interesting new item, Cheesy Macaroni Bites. They’re calling it a tasty twist on the traditional dish. Featuring wedges of macaroni noodles and real Kraft cheese enveloped in a crunchy tempura-style coating. Easy to eat on the go, and a perfect snack or side order.

“Mac ‘N’ Cheese is an American classic that’s universally loved,” said Teka O’Rourke, director of menu marketing and promotions for Jack in the Box Inc. “Our new Cheesy Macaroni Bites offer the same great flavor of the original dish, but in a unique, finger-food style that’s very convenient and portable.” Jack’s new Cheesy Macaroni Bites are priced at $1.69 for three pieces and $2.99 for six pieces. Available today!

  2. Deep fried mac and cheese!!!!

    Am I dreaming?

  3. Sounds like an interesting twist on fried mozzarella. I wish they provided the nutrition info.

  4. I think the big issue with these will be dryness, if they don’t let them sit too long they should be good.

We don’t have Jack In The Box in Florida, least that I know of.

  5. Whoa. Looks frightning for my diet, but I know my kids are going to love this.

  6. By the way, did you see Burger King is serving Kraft Mac & Cheese also?

  8. You wish they provided the nutrition info?

No you don’t…. seriously, what good could come of that?

I like how they use “tempura style” as a euphemism for fried.

These look awesome, but unfortunately, like florida, west virginia has no jack.

  9. FFC: COME BACK! Do not retire! The world needs more awesome stuff like this deep-fried mac-and-cheese.

  10. What happened? Is FFC really dead? :^( :^( It’a one of my top 5 food sites (and I’m very picky!) Tons of other folks love this site too! Don’t go! Fight the good fight!!!! Tell me it ain’t so!

  11. Ok, since there are no comments allowed on the most recent entry I’m going to be a rebel and put it here.

Please don’t go!! I just discovered this site about a week ago and it’s awesome. Is someone trying to shut you down? Maybe you could just write reviews only and not communicate directly with the companies?

  12. i second darlene.
but those bites look awesome…. dip them in some BBQ sauce and I’m sure they’ll be even better.

  14. Re: Kiss My Ass

    Wow! I’m floored!

Mr. FFC, you have talent and it’s a shame to see you give this site up. I hope this isn’t a rash decision because you truly we’re making a contribution.

If nothing else, don’t leave us hanging. DISH, DISH, DISH! Let’s hear these dirty little secrets. Maybe a tell-all e-book. What have you got to lose!

You are an excellent writer and an even better photographer. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the world next.

    All the best.

  15. I would like to add my disappointment at the news of your decision to quit the website and express my hope that you reconsider. The site is fun and entertaining. It provides a useful contribution to consumers. And it, hopefully, provided an opportunity for the industry to improve some of their products (while also praising their successes).

While I am saddened that you received unwelcome pressure from the industry, I hope you will press on. Yours is one of the better food websites. Keep it up, the rest be damned.

  16. RE: Kiss My Ass

    Nil Carborundum Illegitimum!

  17. I’m also sorry to see you shut the site down.

The industry should be supporting you, I wouldn’t even know about a lot of their products but for this site.

  18. For those who don’t read Latin or aren’t well-versed in WWII notable quotables:

    “Nil Carborundum Illegitimum!”

    Translation:

“Don’t let the bastards grind you down!”

    Good advice.

  19. RE: FFC closing

NOOOOO! I just found this site. I don’t eat fast food often but I do indulge from time to time and with new items coming out every other week…well…it helps to be informed.

*flips the bird to the food snobs* I eat hand rolled sushi AND quarter pounders so SHOVE IT!

  20. Hey Man!
You are bookmarked as one of the sites I check each day! Snappy writing, delicious pics - I certainly hope you don’t let the big wigs and naysayers sway you into exile.
Keep up this site - it’s a keeper!

  21. See above. I don’t think that you should be doing this site for the reps, or the fast food employees; I think you should do it for the people who benefit from your writing (ie the people who eat fast food.)

Sure, the execs may be obstinate knobheads, but let that not stop you from giving your reviews anyway! (How are they trying to stop you?)

And as to the critics, just tell them that a lot more people eat fast food than whatever the hell kind of fancy food they might obsess over (Ostrich bladder tempura?), so they can go piss off.

In conclusion, you’re awesome and I think you should keep writing.
