Burger King’s Cheesy Bacon Wrapper
Between breakfast at McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, and Burger King, when the choice is up to me, I usually go for Burger King. Don’t get me wrong though, I still enjoy the McDonald’s McGriddle and I usually spend the extra money to add bacon to the sausage version. (It is definitely worth it.) I also like the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant from Dunkin Donuts. I just find myself going to Burger King more often for breakfast. I can remember the first time I had the ‘Enormous Omelet Sandwich’. I bit into it and said out loud ‘Oh My God this is amazing’. The Cheesy Bacon Wrapper is yet another item on BK’s breakfast menu that leaves me wanting another.

It features egg, cheese sauce, American cheese, hash browns, and bacon wrapped in a tortilla. The wrap is perfect for those who do a lot of eating while driving. I am one of those people, and have found some breakfast items too messy or hard to handle while trying to drive at the same time. The wrap though wasn’t messy aside from a slight cheese sauce drippage at the end, but that wasn’t too bad.
The first bite gives you a nice surprise with the added ingredient of the hash browns. Usually, you’ll just enjoy your hash brown as a side item, but added to the wrap is a nice touch. Another difference for this wrap was the cheese sauce. This article calls it a ’smokey cheese sauce’ but I found it to be sweet. It balances well with the saltiness of the bacon and other ingredients. Together with the bacon, American cheese, egg, and tortilla, it all works well, making a nice breakfast snack.

The only issue I have is the distribution of ingredients. On both of my experiences, there were problems. The first time it didn’t have a lot of American cheese at the beginning, but too much at the end. The second time (pictured here) gave me bacon at the end instead of throughout the entire wrap. This definitely takes some points off the grade, but overall the wrap was a positive experience.
At $1.49 each, or $4.49 for a value meal which comes with 2 wraps, coffee, and hash browns, I would totally get this again. It is definitely worth trying at least once with such an affordable price. If that’s all you get, you may still feel hungry afterwards so consider it more of a snack then your entire breakfast. I give this wrap a B plus. It would have received higher if the distribution was more even throughout the wrapper.

Am I the only one who thinks the second photo is positively pornographic? Yeah, probably so…..
I had one of these when they first came out and actually enjoyed it. I don’t usually eat fast food for breakfast but thought the idea was neat. I do have to agree with you about the way the ingredients are placed. They should make sure you get a good taste of everything each bite and maybe add another hashbrown and strip of bacon.
Ohh, and by the way, i’d love to see a review of the “Enormous Omelet Sandwich.” I’ve thought about trying one, but have never known if i’d really like.
Don — No, it’s not just you. That picture is making me hungry!
Ryan — Me too, and that sounds like something John could handle.
the enormous omlette sandwich is glorious. While I’d love to review in the future… let me just tell you now, go and get one! It’s horrible for you health wise, but so worth trying at least once! And if it’s actually nice and hot… oh my god. Maybe that’ll be my next review!
Man…that looks good.
*gasp* I actually disagree with one of the reviews here.. I gotta say that I’ve tried this thing, and it just tasted like salt on a tortilla. Try McDonalds McSkillet burrito, get it with bacon instead of sausage, and prepare to forget all about the BK ‘wrapper’
Ratbuddy,
yeah, the first one I had was a tad salty, but I tend to enjoy a little extra. When I had it again, the salt was toned down a bit.
I’ll have to check out the mcskillet with bacon!
Honestly I don’t even get it with bacon any more, I order it ‘no sausage, extra cheese’ now
Yummy stuff.
ratbuddy — WHAT? You disagree with one of the reviews here?
You do realize… this means we have to kill you!
I don’t like the McSkillet, it is too dense. They wrap it too tightly.
my only complaint is that it is way too small, and a bit pricey for being its size. I finished mine with a few bites and felt like I had eaten nothing.
I tried one, and it wasn’t too bad. Everything was placed evenly on mine.
One thing I will say. BK’s bacon if a joke. They should be ashamed of themselves passing that thin slice of wax off as bacon. That’ s one reason why BK fails at breakfast, and any other item they add bacon to. To call this a ‘cheesy bacon wrap’ is just a joke. Even if their bacon was worth a damn, there isn’t enough bacon on these things to add the term to the title of the product. It should be called the cheesy tater tot wrap.
Also, there is cheese already in the wrap. Why bother adding a “special cheesy sauce”? Why not just add more real cheese and forget the mystery sauce? That’s one thing I hate about fast food. They always add some sort of mystery sauce to their special items. In this case, I could hardly taste it. All it did was add to my waistline. More often than not. mystery sauce is mayo based, and I can’t stand that obomination of condiment.
I like this wrap, but it won’t make me drive out of my way to get one. The crosanwich is still king of the BK breakfast menue. If they added real bacon to their arsenal, it may even become the king of all fast food breakfast.
Would it kill one of the big chains (not sonic or del taco, but one of the REALLY big chains that you can find on every street corner) to do a proper breakfast burrito? I just had one of these wrapper things. I agree with “Raiders” What the hell is that icky mayo sauce? And American cheese? Both?? Why cant they sprinkle some cheddar in there instead?
There are other “options” like the McDonald Mc Skillet. Unfortunately, it is FAR above the ability level of your average fast food worker to assemble. The ingredients require too much attention or something. I have tried it 3 times and they can’t ever get it right - the potatoes seem undercooked or the ratios are bad and they ALWAYS ask me to pull forward and wait for the damned thing. I stopped trying. Their other “breakfast burrito” is again a JOKE with that stupid american cheese sauce ans sausage - why sausage??. I was soooo looking forward to BK, McDonalds or Jack in the box to do a “wrap” breakfast item consisting of the basic 4 components of a DECENT breakfast burrito: egg, cheese, potatoes, bacon. This is not rocket science, guys. How many times can you get it wrong??
